Ticknick Park, Cherrywood

MOLA Architecture’s continued involvement in the development of the Cherrywood SDZ has included the development of several of the buildings associated with the public parks of the SDZ. These buildings having been developed in close collaboration between Hines and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Country Council whom will ultimately be taking the parks in charge upon completion of the development.

The Ticknick sports pavilion is a multisport pavilion associated with the grassed sports pitches which characterise Ticknick Park. The multisport pavilion, a 180sqm single storey changing facility, comprises 4no. changing rooms, toilet facilities, storage, ancillary accommodation and associated external works including cycle parking facilities. Given the buildings remote location at the westernmost edge of the SDZ development, the building was designed to be simple, inherently robust, whilst also being complementary to its surroundings. A restrained palette of materials was used and enlivened by both vertical fins and the use of a complementary palette of greys and greens tones both inside and out.
