OVERVIEW

IDA IRELAND HEADQUARTERS

MOLA are delighted and honoured to have led and designed the successful delivery of the IDA’s new global Headquarters at 3 Park Place, Dublin 2. Representing and showcasing Ireland Inc. the new IDA offices represent a transformation of its workplace environment and visitor experience.

MOLA worked as Interior Architects and Employers Representative to complete this high profile project within programme and on budget. The accommodation delivered consists of 4 floors of office space with full commercial kitchen/canteen, micro data centre, conference rooms, library, work cafes, client business lounge, experience centre and state of the art boardroom.

The findings of the Workplace strategy informed the design brief and set out the key project design goals, such as: Access to natural light, Excellent acoustics, Diversity of Spaces, Flexibility and Increased Collaboration. The central core on all floors, ‘the hearth’ houses all the services and infrastructure, allowing the surrounding neighbourhoods to focus outwards and to be adaptable and flexible.

Finishes are warm, inviting, yet timeless and contemporary. Circulation routes are carved out of the core, with meandering angular geometries framing external vistas and guiding your route through. Break out spaces off the circulation route, animate the journey, providing opportunities for accidental collisions and informal meetings. Design highlights include generous pantries and lounge spaces overlooking the Iveagh Gardens. Destination zones are provided to encourage movement between floors and departments. The Library is one such destination zone, a quiet area for focused work.

As IDA were moving from a largely cellular office environment, to an entirely open plan office space, this required intense change management and brief development. Through departmental workshops and design sessions the IDT worked with the staff to take them on a journey and to create buy in. This client engagement resulted in considerable staff involvement.

A collaborative process, with staff groups including finishes and design layouts. Another key challenge of the design was to support IDA’s strive and vision to ‘Attract & Retain the best talent’ which firmly marks Irelands position on the world stage. A dynamic, modern office environment which demonstrates assured professionalism, fosters collaboration at all levels and offers a warm Irish welcome.
