Carton Demesne Masterplan (1991-2006)

This €82.5 million project comprised of the res¬toration of Carton House, a former home to the Dukes of Leinster and one of the grandest Palladian mansions in Britain and Ireland. The Masterplan project (1991) proposed the phased transformation of the House and Demesne into a world-class hotel and resort and was implemented on a phased basis including:

  • Restoration of Carton House into a 160no. bedroom Hotel, Health Spa and Pool (2006);
  • The Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) Headquarters, Golf Museum and Golf Academy (2006).
  • Provision of 2no. Championship Golfcourses (2004)
  • A new Golf Clubhouse within the refurbished Stable Wing (2004);
  • Provision of 140no. luxury, private homes (2003-2008);

All projects comprised of the conservation and refurbishment of existing build¬ings and the construction and sensitive integration of new-build accommodation. The overall project has ensured the sur¬vival of the house, the demesne and it’s remarkable history and with it provides for the enjoyment of future generations.
