MOLA Architecture was commissioned by Cairn Homes Properties Ltd to prepare a Masterplan for a 63.34ha site on the edge of the town of Blessington, comprising part of the historic Downshire House Estate in Co Wicklow.
A Phase 1 development, which is 9.56ha, was granted planning permission in June 2021, incorporating the following: a 3ha parcel of land to the north-east of the site, which is zoned for residential use; a 2.8ha area for a Town park, which will form part of a larger public park on the site in future phases; infrastructure including roads for the overall site; a 1.4ha Greenway, which will provide a possible future connection from the proposed Town park to the Glen Ding Woods.
The proposed residential development in Phase 1 comprises of 94 no. 2-storey units with a mix of detached, semi-detached, and terraced housing, providing 2, 3 and 4 bed units.
